Diabetes in their various forms
Diabetes is a medical disorder characterized by varying or persistent hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar levels), especially after eating. All types share similar symptoms and complications at advanced stages.
There are generally two types... Type 1: The most important form is due to decreased production of insulin which requires insulin injections. Type 1 was previously called insulin-dependent mellitus (IDDM) or juvenile-onset. Type 1 develops when the body's immune system destroys pancreatic beta cells, the only cells in the body that make the hormone insulin that regulates blood glucose. To survive, people with type 1 must have insulin delivered by injection or a pump. This form usually strikes children and young adults, although disease onset can occur at any age. In adults, type 1 accounts for 5 to 10 percent of all diagnosed cases. Risk factors for type 1 may be autoimmune, genetic, or environmental. No known way to prevent type 1 exists. Several clinical trials for the prevention of type 1 are currently in progress or are being planned.
Type 2: Where there is a decreased sensitivity of body tissues to insulin and is generally managed with oral medication and only requires insulin if the tablets are ineffective. Diabetes is a serious disease, affecting millions of Americans and growing at epidemic rates, with one million new cases each year. But, there is good news: It can be prevented. By losing a modest amount of weight by getting 30 minutes of physical activity 5 days a week and eating healthier, people with pre-diabetes can delay or prevent the onset of the disease. Type 2 was previously called non-insulin-dependent mellitus (NIDDM) or adult-onset diabetes. In adults, type 2 accounts for about 90 to 95 percent of all diagnosed cases. It usually begins as insulin resistance, a disorder in which the cells do not use insulin properly. As the need for insulin rises, the pancreas gradually loses its ability to produce it. Type 2 is associated with: - older age
- obesity
- family history
- gestational history
- impaired glucose metabolism
- physical inactivity
- race/ethnicity
African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, American Indians, and some Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders are at particularly high risk for type 2 and its complications. Type 2 in children and adolescents, although still rare, is being diagnosed more frequently among American Indians, African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, and Asians/Pacific Islanders.

Testimonials... Author: Frank Seeley 2004-12-13"Research at Georgetown University Medical Center has found that a combination of naturally occurring edible oils may be effective in treating type 2 diabetes. Harry Preuss, professor of physiology and biophysics at Georgetown, examined the effects of a combination of edible oils from fenugreek, cumin, pumpkin seed and oregano on rats with type 2 diabetes. A single dose of the oils decreased the rats' blood pressure, and daily doses kept the blood pressure at a lower level during a three-week study period. When researchers stopped giving the oil mixture, blood pressure returned to its normal levels. The oils also enhanced the rats' insulin sensitivity, that is, they needed less insulin to control their blood glucose levels. 'Our results suggest that combinations of various edible oils improved glucose metabolism in these diabetic rats, and may be important in the treatment of different forms of human diabetes as well as the high blood pressure that often accompanies it,' Preuss said. 'We are encouraged by the results of this small study and plan to conduct more research to try to find new ways to treat diabetes with fewer side effects.'"
Author: Scott OlsenTitle: Diabetes and Joint Pain"I had major surgery to repair a completely crushed pelvis in March of 2004. I had a serious ski accident that occurred when I went off of an Olympic jump and crashed into a packed-hard table area. I ended up with a plate and 9 pins holding me together and spent the next 10 months in physical therapy, on morphine and other prescription drugs for the extreme pain. By the end of the year, I was able to ski again, but was relying heavily upon ibuprofen for the ongoing pain. When the acai juice became available in January 2005, I stopped all my medications and decided to work toward a natural, safe way to help my body heal itself. For the first month, I drank 4 oz, twice a day, and before 3 weeks had gone by, all the pain had vanished. I am now drinking half that amount and totally enjoying living without anything hurting. Two years ago, I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic with the A-1 blood test (90-day-average blood sugar analysis) at a too-high level of 7.9. Even with the prescribed Metaformin, 850 mg. twice daily, a year later this test was still at 7. I'd run out of my prescription around the time I began drinking the acai juice and didn't refill it. About 90 days later, my doctor did another A-1 test and was stunned at the lab report...my reading was at 5.9! He said he had no idea what I was doing but urged me to keep it up. Now, some 7 months after I began drinking the acai juice, my daily blood sugar readings are consistently below 100."
Author: April Martin 2006-07-25"I haven't been with YL for very long but my husband and I have been using the oils practically every day. My husband is diabetic and when I first found this website I asked for testimonies on diabetes. It has helped wonders! My husband uses Lemongrass, Dill, Cinnamon Bark and also takes Carbozyme, it has been helpful to control his blood sugar levels. Without the oils his sugar would yo-yo really bad sometimes and it was hard to control. But now with taking carbozyme before each meal and rubbing lemongrass on his pancreas and the dill and cinnamon bark on pancreas and feet it has helped keep his levels in the normal range all day! I was finding myself getting very painful migraines everyday for about a month straight, when I got the oils I started using peppermint. It helped a little but I found what helped the most was Pan-Away, rubbed at the base of the skull and on the forehead and behind my ears help me get rid of them! Also, after reading some facts about the daily products that are sold in stores, I stopped using the most harmful that had a lot of chemicals in them and started using YL products. I think that also helped with my migraines as well. I think I just had too much build up in my system that the oils helped me get rid of. Thank you to everyone that responded to my post, it helped tremendously! Happy oiling and God Bless."
