"Here's two excellent books about the health benefits of the Acai Berry:"
What Is the Acai Berry...?
Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-EE) is a palm tree that grows throughout the Amazon basin. The fruit is small and dark purple or black in color, and is about the size of a grape. The berry is harvested naturally from the depths of the rain forests of Brazil by the people who have been using it for thousands of years.
The berry was recently listed on the Oprah Winfrey show as #1 of the top 10 super-foods for anti-aging. Her show featured Dr. Nicholas Perricone, author of the #1 New York Times best-seller, 'The Perricone Promise'. He said the following:
"It may seem odd to start this list of super-foods with one you've likely never even heard of. But studies have shown that this little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world."
The Berry comes from an Amazon palm tree. Harvested in the rain forests of Brazil, and tastes like a vibrant blend of berries and chocolate.
Hidden within its royal purple pigment is the magic that makes it nature's perfect energy fruit. It's packed full of antioxidants, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. Although it may not be available in your local supermarket, you can find it, often in juice form.
In fact, studies show that it provides significantly more antioxidants than such well-respected foods as blueberries, oranges and even red wine. Perhaps more impressive is that the antioxidant concentration in the fruit is five times higher than that of gingko biloba, the popular “brain boosting” herbal supplement that is renowned for its antioxidant properties.
The berry, contains the most highly concentrated forms of anthocyanins known thus far through intense research. The anthocyanin content in the berry is proven to be 3.5 times the amount of that present in a glass of red wine, volume to volume when tested in an ORAL analysis (measure of capacity).
Here is a list of some of the health problems that anthocyanins help address and protect against:
Inflammation and Collagen: Anthocyanins neutralize enzymes that destroy connective tissue. Their antioxidant capacity prevents oxidants from damaging connective tissues and repair damaged proteins in the blood vessel walls.
The Nervous System: By preventing tyrosine nitration, the anthocyanin properties in the berry may help protect against neurological diseases. The primary anthocyanins in the berry known as Cyanidin-3-glucoside have been found to help in the reversal of age related neurological deficits.
Large and Small Blood Vessels: Anthocyanins ability to counter oxidants makes it a powerhouse in the fight against arteriosclerosis. Even in trace amounts, anthocyanins effectively protect against LDL oxidation. Anthocyanins protect the integrity of the endothelial cells that line blood vessel walls and help to maintain micro capillary integrity.
Diabetes: One of the serious diabetic complications is retinopathy, which in most cases can cause blindness. This condition occurs when the body attempts to repair leaking, damaged capillaries, but does so by over producing abnormal proteins. The protection of anthocyanins may help prevent these capillaries from leaking and to help prevent abnormal protein proliferation.
Eyesight: Anthocyanins may also help improve eyesight. In the Second World War, British fighter pilots were found to have improved night vision. These findings were thought to be contributed to by the large amounts of bilberry in the pilot’s diet.
The effects of the improved night vision were not long lasting after the initial consumption of bilberry - lasting just hours after initial consumption. With this new-found advantage, the pilots would consume the bilberry fruits just prior to the mission.
Finally, besides being considered one of the “richest foods in iron”, it's also rich in fiber, which makes it strongly recommended for the elderly and/or for people with digestive problems.
For its microbiological characteristics, it is considered one of the most nutritive foods in the Amazon, and perhaps in the world.
The following are just some of the reported benefits of taking Acai, results vary from person to person but benefits can be felt in 1-2 weeks of usage:
Greater energy/stamina
Improved digestion
Improved Mental Focus
Better sleep
All nutrients come from one berry
More proteins then an average egg
A high amount of lipids that gives you the energy of a raging bull.
Essential minerals such as iron, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. All natural Vitamin B1 (Thiamin), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin C, Vitamin E (tocopherol)
Improved sexual function
Acai has been shown to have up to 33 times the Antocyanine (a powerful Anti-Oxidant) then red wine grapes.
Has a high level of fibers that is good for elderly and for people who have problems with digestive organs.
Has two essential fatty acids known as Omega 6 (Linoleic acid) and Omega 9 (Oleic acid). Research shows that these fatty acids maintain normal cholesterol levels.
Research has shown that these Anti-Oxidants help regulate normal cholesterol levels.
Its Anti-Oxidant factors play a large role in maintenance of vascular cardiac system, which is important for better blood circulation.
Is considered one of the richest nutritive fruits from the Amazon or the world for that fact.
An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contractions and regeneration.
Very low Sugar content for a fruit
Cleansing and Detoxing your body
Boost your Immune System

"I was in ill health. Surgery after surgery. Weak, tired and home-bound most of the time. I heard that Oprah had mentioned the fruit so I went online to investigate. I decided to try one bottle for myself. I started using one shot glass last November 2007.
Within THREE days I noticed that my arthritic fingers weren’t as sore and in one week the swelling had disappeared." -Nadine Panek Roswell
"I have been faithfully using it daily and feel quite good on it! Hearing about it in person (at camp) and meeting the awesome people behind the company makes me sold on the product even more! It is always nice to meet the owners and staff of products.
Makes them even more believable! Especially when you see them using it too! It's nice to use a product in liquid form that tastes good AND makes you feel good! Great combo! -Monica Brant-Peckham
"I am just back from the Tri-America race in New Orleans’ Northshore. I had a terrific day and ended up with the win. I felt so strong throughout the whole race and my body was incredibly responsive every time I asked it to do more. Training hard and recovering with acai has made a huge difference this season for me. I can definitely say I am healthier being on it." -Felipe Bastos – Professional Triathlete
[Wow! A pro athlete swears by this stuff. If it's good enough to help a triathlete to victory, just think about what it can do for a regular Joe.]
"I received my acai on Friday the 14th of August, 2008. Had my first shot of it on Saturday morning then again on Saturday night. For the first time in a long time, I was able to sleep soundly into the hours of the late morning (weekend) and I woke up with energy. I was vibrant and raring to go." -Queen Dixon, Tacoma, Washington
"I have experienced a huge drop in my arthritis pain since beginning to consume the acai drink. My left foot was almost frozen in place with the toes pushed together and now my foot is normal and I can even splay my toes apart with absolutely no pain!" -D Donahue Tiverton, Rhode Island
